Film
- Tótem, 2023really lovely cinematography and warm color palette to accompany a simple, bittersweet story. the end credits are super stylish, too.

Books
- A Taste for Poison, Neil Bradbury
Nonfiction. Details eleven different poisons, how they kill, and who used them. - Ripley's Game, Patricia Highsmithi nearly cheered out loud when ripley showed up in the middle of the book lol…he was pretty absent until then. he's my favorite weird guy!
there seems to be a general consensus that the latter ripley novels are significantly less homoerotic/queer/etc. than the first, but i think there's a lot of room to explore re: his relationship with jonathan, the picture framer. there are also a lot of offhand descriptions, like tom admitting he "had a love of house and home usually found only in women".
if the ripley miniseries ever continues, i'd love to see this book adapted—considering netflix's track record, though, it seems unlikely. still, i can dream...!
Crime, thriller. In the third installment of the Tom Ripley novels, the titular character becomes involved with a British picture framer and the Italian Mafia.
Comics
- In Fair Verona, Val Wise
Horror, fantasy. A pair of girls enter the service of the Princess of All Blood. One is there to be loved, the other tormented. - Home by the Rotting Sea, Otava Heikkiläotava heikkilä does it again…! his works have such an incredible sense of visual pace and character design. what a striking and lived-in world this story creates.
Fantasy. Two human brides are gifted to a village of scarred giants.

- a modest critique of solarpunk, Alyaza Birzea bit of a digression: i think solarpunk has moved on from this particular association, but a lot of its earlier visuals were taken from art nouveau, due to its aesthetic appeal and emphasis on natural, organic shapes.
of course, a design being inspired by nature doesn't mean that the object itself is eco-friendly. there's also the lesser known fact that art nouveau was also called the "congo style", and it became almost synonymous with belgium's colonization of the congo: the organic, curved designs integral to art nouveau were directly inspired by one of belgian congo's main exports, the rubber plant, for instance. - Counter-mapping Complicity, Filistin İçin Bin Genç, Charlotte Rose and Elia El Khazen
